Partnering with the Albertsons and Safeway Foundation to Fight Hunger in Our Community

Imagine having to worry about when your next meal will be or not knowing what you can feed your children for dinner. Unfortunately, many of our neighbors face that reality every day. At WithinReach, we work to help find solutions for those in our community facing food insecurity.

We are excited to be the recipients of a $100,000 grant from Albertsons and Safeway’s Foundation Nourishing Neighbors to help those in our community receive the benefits of existing federal meals programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) and free or reduced school nutrition programs.

With this grant, we will facilitate enrollment for families who are eligible for SNAP and WIC, as well as connect them to local food resource, such as food banks and summer meal programs. Additionally, we will expand our capacity to better support families and individuals through the application process, with an emphasis on reaching underserved communities throughout our state and hiring staff from within these communities

Thank you to the Albertsons and Safeway Foundation for supporting our neighbors in Washington State and alleviating food insecurity in our communities.
